The Materials Guide
Choosing the right yarn and tools can make or break a project. Here is our curated guide to the fibers and accessories we trust to bring our patterns to life.
Our Favorite Fibers
100% Cotton Yarn
Best for: Bags, Home Decor, AmigurumiCotton is strong, holds its shape beautifully, and doesn’t pill. It gives great stitch definition, making it perfect for structured projects.
Merino Wool Blend
Best for: Sweaters, Cardigans, Winter WearablesSoft, warm, and breathable. Merino blends offer a beautiful drape for garments without feeling too heavy or scratchy on the skin.
Bamboo Silk
Best for: Summer Tops, Shawls, Lightweight AccessoriesIncredibly smooth with a luxurious sheen. Bamboo yarn is eco-friendly and provides a gorgeous, flowy drape for warmer weather.
Chunky Velvet/Chenille
Best for: Plush Toys, Thick BlanketsSuper soft and works up incredibly fast. Velvet yarn hides stitches slightly but creates the coziest, huggable finished pieces.
Essential Tool Kit
Ergonomic Crochet Hooks
A good hook saves your hands! We recommend hooks with soft, comfortable grips (like Clover Amour or Tulip Etimo) to prevent wrist fatigue during long making sessions.
Stitch Markers
Essential for working in the round (like amigurumi) or marking pattern repeats. Locking stitch markers are a must-have in your project bag.
Tapestry Needles
Used for weaving in ends and seaming pieces together. We prefer bent-tip needles, which make getting under tight stitches much easier.
Precision Scissors
A small, sharp pair of snips or embroidery scissors for cleanly cutting yarn without fraying the ends.
